Circlo is a private social network for family and close friends. Post to the circles you pick, chat in private, and know that nobody else can read it. Not advertisers, not strangers, not even us.

Your circles

Family, Close Friends, Work: every post reaches only the circles you pick.

Your eyes only

Posts, photos and messages are encrypted on your phone before they leave it.

Nothing to sell

No ads, no tracking, no algorithm. Just your people, newest first.

One circle or several, for every post

Put people in circles like Family, Close Friends or Work. Each post goes to the circles you pick, or to Everyone, or just to you. Change your mind about someone and only new posts follow; nobody is told.

Choosing Close Friends and Family as the audience for a post

Messages only the two of you can read

Chat one to one or in groups, with photos. Messages are encrypted on your phone and only the people in the chat can open them.

Replies stay in the circle

Replies and likes are encrypted with the post they belong to, so only the people who can see a post can see the conversation under it.

Invite-only. No search, no strangers

Nobody can look you up. People connect by scanning your QR code or opening your one-time invite link, and you decide whether to accept.

Know it’s really them

Compare a safety number in person. If it matches, nobody is sitting in the middle of your conversation, not even us.

Notifications that say nothing

Notifications only say there’s something new. Names and content never pass through Apple or Google; they stay encrypted until you open Circlo.

What Circlo never has

  • Email addresses, phone numbers or real names: sign-up is a handle and a password, and the password never leaves your phone.
  • Your posts, photos, replies, messages or profile in readable form: they are encrypted on your phone first.
  • IP addresses, location, contacts, device details or “last seen”.
  • Analytics, ads, crash reporting or tracking of any kind.

Read exactly what the server keeps in our Privacy Policy, or check it yourself in the source code.

Questions

Who can see what I post?

Only the people in the circles you choose for that post. Circlo’s servers store your posts encrypted and can’t read them or see who they’re for.

What if I forget my password?

At sign-up you get a 24-word recovery phrase. With it you can set a new password and get your account back. Without the password or the phrase, nobody can recover the account, including us, because we never have your keys.

What happens if I lose or reset my phone?

Log in on the new phone with your handle and password. Your people, circles, profile and posts come back. Older chat messages stay on your other phones but don’t move to the new one.

How do I report someone or delete my account?

You can report a post, a person or a message, and block anyone, from the ⋯ menu. Delete your account any time in Settings, or see how on the delete account page.

Is Circlo open source?

Yes. The app, the server and the encryption code are public, so anyone can check that they do what this page says.
